i like reading my thoughts after i think them.

it's better than people who like to hear themselves talk—
the poor listener is just stuck there with annoying company.
at least i give you the option to peace out...

here’s to another (happy) thanksgiving.

amidst endless applications, edits and story ideas up for grabs, I always forget to write for myself. to read for myself. to think for myself about what I really want to be doing for others, whether forever or for the next few months of whatever time I’m given. because who’s to say that we’re each entitled to long lives, that we’re all called to build multifaceted empires and spark multigenerational families? how spoiled are we for taking for granted what so many others are not blessed with, what is “stolen” from so many others who die young?

if you’re reading this, it means you’re a lucky son of a gun. you have access to the Internet and the technology to connect to the web. you have the luxury of leisure; you can afford to procrastinate by scrolling through mindless tumblr posts. you were privileged with education from a young age, when you first learned how to read. but most of all, you’re breathing, and the minute after this one, though not guaranteed, is also yours for the taking.

don’t say no one ever gave you anything. no matter what was on the dinner table yesterday or what wasnt on the table all year, another thanksgiving is still a happy thanksgiving by default.

I’m sick of making plans and planning to make, because I won’t be able to make anything because I’m too busy planning how to make things happen…to whom? who’s watching? who cares?!

sometimes, I think to myself that at the end of the day, I don’t have a “life,” that I’m missing out somehow. but i guess my life actually started twenty-one years ago and I fell way behind in learning how to appreciating it all.

luckily, I cram pretty damn well. thanks, college!
